Top Payment Gateways in India

As a country that’s soon growing into a powerful IT authority in the world, India has been taking small and giant leaps by accepting recent advancements. In this exacting process of affairs online commerce has a huge role to play. The internet of things vision is incomplete until linked to an online payment portal which helps in transfer of funds without exchange of cash materially. The payment gateways in India are service providers to merchants and are helpful in making and collecting payments from customers. Such gateways are used in almost everything, mainly shopping, booking and payments of bills.

CCAvenue

CCAvenue is South Asia’s largest payment gateway. It offers options like credit cards, ATM-cum-debit cards, e-wallets and others. Thousands of e-merchants are a part of this venture. It is involved in advance shopping carts, processing transactions, reporting finances and controlling frauds. CCAvenue connects to multiple banks all over India and outside. It is authorized by the Government of India to commission Sub Merchants and manage multiple payments. The transactions are quick and done through secure servers. It can also process transactions made in multiple currencies.

DirecPay

It was launched in 2008 and is an easy and convenient way to boost e-business. Offering credit, debit, mobile payments and internet banking options to its customers at cost-effective pricing, DirecPay also has an in-built fraud detection system that ensures secure transactions. An initiative of TimesofMoney, DirecPay is a free payment gateway. Once the account is activated, the transactions are quick and efficient.

Paytm

Paytm is probably the most popular e-wallet in India now. Yet most people do not know that it is a payment gateway as well. The payments are made by downloading the application on your smartphone. It provides its customers with offers and recharge discounts along with a safe payment platform. Features like time-saving, cost-efficient setup methods and easy refund and cancellation have made it a suitable choice for its users.

PayUbiz

The payment service provider was earlier known as PayU and later forked into two separate schemes- PayUbiz and PayUmoney. It is a popular choice for conducting e-commerce transactions and is mainly a Business to Business payment gateway. A trusted payment processor for BookMyShow, MakeMyTrip and Yatra, PayUbiz is highly favoured among merchants due to its good conversion rates and One Tap payment system.

Instamojo

This gateway, launched in 2012, works as a payment collector for small businesses both on web and mobile. It allows the merchant to collect payments through a link which can be shared via sms, email and social media sites like Whatsapp and Facebook as well. The process of setting up an account is easy and hardly takes up more than a few minutes of your time. Payment is completed within 2-3 working days. Unlike CCAvenue, Instamojo is presently operational only in India.

Razorpay

Founded in 2013, Razorpay is the second Indian company to get selected for the Y Combinator’s startup program in Silicon Valley. Like Paytm and Instamojo, its facilities are available over web and mobile phones. No physical documents are required for setup; the procedure is easy and no maintenance fee is charged. Payment is made without the customer being redirected to the website of his or her bank. The gateway is PCI DSS compliant and hence, ensures a higher level of security. As of April, 2017, Razorpay declared its plans to explore international options.

These payment gateways have eased some of the burdens shouldered by small businesses and have come a long way in enhancing the quality of lives. Thanks to increased options available nowadays, merchants and vendors and buy and sell with the blink of an eye.
